I love it when I go into a screening with very little knowledge or expectations. All I really knew was the whole “press button, kill someone, get a milli” thing & that Cameron Diaz was in it.
I didn’t even realize it was a Kelly film. Anyway, I figured I’d watch the first reel and see if it drew me in, and it sure did. I felt intrigued and engaged, and as the credits rolled, it made even more sense when I saw Directed by Richard Kelly.
Reminds me of when I went to see Punch Drunk Love totally blind knowing nothing more than Adam Sandler was in it. I was confused and bewildered for the whole film and then the credits rolled and I realized it was PTA. And then it all made sense…
Anyway, I’m totally going to rewatch Donnie Darko ASAP as I have not seen it for years and years.
