ESPNU Rank ‘Em: Big 12 (10 teams) and Pac 10 (11 teams) — All sports
Now, I’m all for team spirit, allegiances, etc… but really? TWENTY-TWO PEOPLE voted Washington State as #1 of 21?! I mean, sure, they have a decent men’s baseball team and women’s soccer team… but along with the worst men’s basketball and football teams.
Meanwhile USC is nationally ranked in 11 sports: football, women’s soccer, women’s softball, men’s and women’s water polo, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s volleyball.
Texas is good, but only nationally ranked in 8 sports: baseball, football, softball, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, men’s golf.
Yeah, Pac-16 would be weird at first; but, it’s potentially good for the sport. Big 12 is overall pretty weak while Pac-10 is fairly strong while not nationally respected (mostly by the assholes over in the SEC). A 2 divison Pac-16 conference could be rocky and wild.
Plus, USC (and Cal) has ZERO love for Texas… it could be fun to become serious rivals.
So I guess we just wait out Nebraska’s move… and go from there.
Shiiiiiiiiiiit
Looks like Trojan football won’t matter much for 2 years. It sucks for all the current players who’re getting fucked over by past greedy assholes.
Coach Carrol jumped ship. So now Mike Garrett is all that’s left. I hope he gets fired before he even has a chance to resign.
Also on Saturday…
there’s a football game happening.
